In the noon of July 30, 2008, while I am on the way approaching to Kerry Centre downtown Beijing, Chaoyang District, for the JETSET SPORTS special meeting with our most existing 2008 Beijing Olympics hospitality program, I was met with Eyee Hsu, host of CCTV INTERNATIONAL UP-CLOSE, she was just there with his NBC Colleagues or Guests shooting CCTV Headquarters as well as the CBD of Beijing special for the short TV program related to 2008 Beijing Olympics. Soon after that, I said I am a big fan of the CCTV INTERNATIONAL UP-CLOSE, that is why I figure out the beautiful lady standing in front me was the host Eyee Hsu. And then I said hello to her and others besides her, and begin to chat, I mean a conversation. Before that, I was sure giving her my business card, and she did so, pass her business card to me. And I know we are in the same Chinese family name XU, so she just joked that 500 years ago we were in the same family, and I was so happy to reply YES.
Just at that moment one of her NBC Colleagues, I mean the cameraman said to me, “would you like to get an interview with us and just say something about CCTV TOWER or something you want to express to the audiences throughout the world?” I said, “Yes, my pleasure.” The director of photography just rose up, stopped shooting around the CBD and took the camera out of the tripod ready to interview me. You know what, host Eyee Hsu just began to ask me questions, and the interview was exactly shooting as soon as I was just standing in front of the building which the citizens of Beijing considered as the most spectacular building recently happened in downtown Beijing!
“Nice to meet you!”
“Yes, glad to meet you here, Eyee.”
“What is name?”
“My name is Journeyman Xu, my Chinese name is Xu Zhonglin.”
“Where are you come from and how long have you just stay in Beijing?”
“I am originally come from Jiangxi Province, south of China, and in 2002 I came to Beijing till now 2008, it was more than 6 years from then on.”
“How do think that the changing of Beijing just comparer with the every beginning while you are in Beijing?”
“How things have changed. I am still remembering that in 2002, when I first arrived in Beijing, it was rare to find BEIJING and MORDERN ARCHITECTURE in the same sentence. But these days, new additions to the skyline are making headline news, not just in Beijing, but all over China. As you know, the Bird`s Nest, the Water Cube, the new National Grand Theatre, and the Olympic Venues spread out in Beijing, and also the plaza, tower, sky building just right here in the CBD GUOMAO. And nowadays, Beijing has become a multinational city around the world, not also domestic people enjoy their life here, but also attract more and more foreigners come to visit as well as to live in Beijing.”
“Yes, how about the CCTV NEW BUILDING behind you?”
“Oh, as you can see,” I turned over and looked back to the tower and said to Eyee, “It is great, fantastic, spectacular, and more controversial. Many locals find the new CCTV Headquarters, the brainchild of Dutch designers Rem Koolhaas and Ole Scheeren, objectively impressive but not CHINESE enough for downtown Beijing. But I think it must be a new card of Beijing, and as soon as people see it they will just think about Beijing, think about China.”
“Do you like it? How do you think of its shape?”
“Oh, en, it is just like wonky cube with the centre punched out, CCTV`s new over 775ft headquarters towers over Chaoyang`s central business district.” While I am saying that, the cameraman just lower his camera from the down direction to shoot, “The building, designed by Dutch firm OMA, isn’t even finished yet but is already one of the most rave about new structures in town. As you can see now, the outside have been already completed. I think everybody who is visiting Beijing will like it just like people passing by here everyday.”
With smile, with passion, with friendly conversation, the short by chance interviewed by NBC from the other side of the ocean came to the end, and we say goodbye and good luck each other. And I also said to my “Old sister”, because of the same family name XU, the host of UP-CLOSE of CCTV-9 XU YIYI, I am so happy to met her, and willing to keep in touch in the future to come. Otherwise, I said to her, it will be very appreciated if I can get this short video about our conversation in front of CCTV NEW HEADQUARTER BUILDING cast by NBC, and also the whole program as well.
After that, one of my friend Jerry once said the tower just like shorts and no matter what ever you considered its shape, the tower itself just standing firmly and outstanding for its big, brilliant, powerful pillars at CBD Beijing. Nowadays, new Beijing and the whole country China, will welcome you no matter where are you come from, no matter what is your view about Beijing, about China, and its people.

提起NBC，非资深美剧迷可能并不会立刻产生共鸣，但如果说起老友记(Friends)和最近席卷全球的热播美剧——英雄(Heroes)，应该不会有太多人感到陌生，是的，他们都出自于NBC麾下，足见他强大的制作功力和影响力。
背景介绍
NBC(National Broadcasting Company)全国广播公司的简称，全美三大商业广播电视公司之一(其余两家分别是CBS 美国哥伦比亚广播公司和ABC 全称美国广播公司)。
他的总部设于纽约得创办于1926年，是美国历史最久，实力最强的商业广播电视公司。1985年，全国广播公司被通用电气公司(GE)以62亿美元收购，公司现在纽约、洛杉矶、芝加哥、华盛顿、克利夫兰、丹佛和迈阿密7座城市设有直属电视台，并在全国有附属电视台208座。
自NBC创立以来，一直以大胆革新而著名。他拥有多个美国传媒界的“第一”：20世纪初期，他率先组建了美国第一个全国性的广播网；1928年7月20日始建W2XBS实验电视台，1931年10月30日试播，1939年4月30日，以转播罗斯福总统在纽约世界博览会开幕式上的讲话开始正式播出。在美国电视史上第一次播出

经典情景喜剧——《老友记》(Friends，共十季已结束)
诙谐幽默，令人捧腹，至今仍然是为人称道的口语教材，出演该片的6位主角也因此片而在现实生活中成为了真正的老友。尤以科妮寇·克斯和珍妮佛·安妮斯顿的友谊为代表。
科幻剧——《海面》(Surface，一季)口碑不错，可惜中途被砍掉。
商业真人秀——《学徒》(Apprentice )(港译：飞黄腾达)至今共六季，有消息可能还会继续
围绕纽约房地产大亨唐纳德·特朗普(Donald Trump)提供的一个中层管理职位展开，由来自美国各个行业不同教育水平的商业精英互相PK，每一集都是一个商业项目( project)，本剧中所展示的职业实例和面试过程受到很多白领和学生的推崇，被认为是MBA课程的活教材。最著名的一句台词：You’r fired.
政法剧——《法律与秩序》(Law & Order)正在连播，并衍生出两部分支剧目《法律与秩序：特殊受害人单元》(Law & Order: Special Victims Unit)和《法律与秩序：犯罪倾向》(Law & Order: Criminal Intent)。
政法剧——《白宫风云》(The West Wing 共七季)
这部以总统及其幕僚工作和生活展开的剧集吸引人之处，不仅是他所触及到的白宫内那些令普通人无比好奇的人和事，还有其中的机智幽默但锋芒毕露的精彩对白，还有令人折服的理想主义人文精神。当然，对于那些以看美剧学英语为目的中国观众，语速快，信息量大，加上剧中人物的聪敏热情和果断，情节发展节奏快，使得这部剧无疑又成为一部很好的学习素材。
医务剧——《急诊室的故事》(ER，第十四季正在播出)
ER引用故事中的一个主要场景为名字，简简单单的两个字母也是英文Emergency Room(急症室)的缩写。这个小小的急症室正是现实世界的一个缩影。故事中的人物在人生交叉点面对着各种抉择。这里每天都要收治许多急救的病人，每位医护人员都用自己的高超医术和仁慈爱心进行最及时的抢救。既有很多人在这里恢复了健康，也有一些人在这里结束了生命。健康与病痛相连，生命与死亡并存，这部剧集正是这样讲述着发生在急诊室里真实而又感人的故事。
科幻动作剧——《超能英雄》(Heroes，第二季正在热播中)
一群因为基因变异而具有特异功能的人为拯救世界而走到了一起。本剧情节真实又充满想象力，逻辑缜密，编剧用拼图的手法，分别讲述每个人的来龙去脉，他们之间既相互独立又存在着某种关联，最后终于将故事推到中心却又嘎然而止，为了吊足观众好奇心真是费尽心机，不可否认，这部戏必将成为又一部NBC的当家剧集。
除了以上所提及代表作，还有诸如《办公室》(Office)、《赌城风云》(Las Vegas)、《威尔和格蕾丝》(Will & Grace)等等经典剧集，不再多说。
新闻制作方面
其实，除了美剧制作，NBC在新闻纪录片的制作上也卓有成绩。他坚持着一贯的大胆作风，报道过许多引起舆论关注和争议的题材，比如化学武器和生物武器，陆军情报机构在民间进行侦察活动，季节短工问题和退休金计划等。颇具代表性的就是1963年11月，肯尼迪总统遇刺事件发生后，NBC大胆停播了所有的广告，安排了24小时的新闻连续报道，开重大突发事件连续报道之先河。后来这种方法被各家电视台仿效。亨特利(Chet Huntley)和布林克利(David B rinkley)(最早的两位晚间新闻主持人)熟悉的面孔吸引着观众，忠于他们的观众如此之多，使得NBC的晚间新闻和新闻待别报道的收视率一直稳居三大商业电视网之首。
比起另外两家商业电视网，NBC显得更加比较细致和平稳，当然他仍然坚持着自创立以来一贯传承的大胆革新的作风，为大众呈献出更精彩更真实更有生命力的电视作品。(兜兜/文)
