E.g.If you’re not going to play for keeps ,you shouldn’t bother doing it

Ø   make perfect sense    很清楚,明白,有道理

E.g.After I read the textbook the answer made perfect sense to me

Ø   keep the change    小费

E.g.I’m not tipping you .The service is so bad

Ø   cheapskate    小气鬼

E.g. (1)Hey ,you didn’t buy me a Christmas gift .You’re such a cheapskate .

(2)Don’t be a cheapskate ,buy her a nice engagement ring .okay ?

Ø   heads up  当心,留神

E.g.(1)Hey,heads up!A car is coming.

    (2)Heads up!Don't get hit with the ball

Ø   pack a suitcase   = prepare your luggage for a trip    收拾行李

E.g.(1)Pack your bags, we are going to Hainan

Ø   That's tough       同情,理解= That's too bad ,what a shame

                           反语= Actually ,that's a sarcastic version of the first meaning

                           很难对付= very difficult to defeat

E.g.(1)Tough customers .

      (2)That guy , he is a tough neighbor

Ø   dope = stupid person   白痴

例:Hey , you're dope, it's you mother tongue.

       John is a dope, you don't have to follow his direction

Ø   whining = complain 抱怨

例:Hey, will you stop whining ?

       Hey, what's got into  him ? He is whining it's too hot to play football
