钟琬婷13岁雅思7分作文

我参加了2005年12月17日的雅思考试，这是我第一次参加雅思考试，取得了总分8.5分的成绩。其中：听力9分，阅读9分，写作7分，口语9分。以下是我的7分作文，在此和大家交流。

 (Task2：It is more important for a building to serve it purpose than look beautiful. Architects should not worry about creating buildings as works of art. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

 Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words.)

In this developing world with rapidly swelling population, it is more and more urgent for more buildings, as dwelling places, to be constructed. Hence arises the problem concerning the artistic values of a building and its purpose. In my opinion, a beautiful appearance of a building doesn’t necessarily contradict with serving its purpose, and buildings that are works of art should not be eliminated.

Imagine living in a city where all buildings are equally dull and simply practical. Indeed, these buildings have served their purposes as habitations, but will their dwellers feel spiritually pleased in them? The answer is negative, for these buildings can only cater for one’s material needs but not his aesthetic ones.

Some opponents of creating artistic buildings might say, what is the use of a cluster of pretty houses unfit for human dwelling? To this, we can reply that artistic buildings are not all impractical. Think about the delicate little houses in the warm, watery south of China. Settled along the winding rivers, they have an aura of gentle beauty and have been praised by thousands as wonderful works of art. Having lasted through history, they are also perfectly comfortable dwellings for local residents. Think about the Empire State Building towering over New York, silently emanating a grand splendour. It is also a serious work of art, yet who can deny that it has served its purpose?

People need aesthetic pleasure, yet they cannot visit art museums or camp out in nature everyday due to the fast pace of city life. However, with buildings as works of art, people can feel artistically pleased even on the way to work. Artistic buildings are an essential component of a city’s charm. Without them, a city cannot be as attractive or as unique. If there are beautiful buildings to alleviate city dwellers’ pressure, every single day becomes fresh and bright.

To conclude, artistic buildings are not all impractical and should not be abandoned. Architects should do more to design building that are comfortable places to live in as well as aesthetically satisfactory. (343 words)

在当今这个人口高速膨胀的世界里，人们急需建造大量的房屋以解决安身之处，因此，建筑物的艺术价值和使用价值之间的矛盾就凸现出来了。我的观点是，一座建筑物漂亮的外观并不必然会与它的实用性发生冲突，或者说，建筑物的艺术性和实用性可以并存。

如果城市里的建筑物在外观上都清一色地呆板、单调，那么我们生活在这样一座城市里会有什么样的感觉？的确，这些建筑物的功能只是供居住，但是否能够给居住者带来精神上的愉悦呢？回答是否定的，它们只是满足了人们物质上的需求，而没有顾及人们感官上的享受。

有些对建造艺术型建筑物持反对态度的人可能会说，如果这些漂亮的房子不适合人居住，又会有什么用处？对于这种说法，我们的回答是，艺术型建筑物并非都没有实用性。在温暖湿润的中国南方地区，沿着河边矗立着许多精巧别致的小房子，它们都带有一种优雅的美感，在许多人眼里，它们简直就是完美的艺术品。在经历了几个世纪的风雨之后，在当地居民眼中，它们仍然是最舒适的住所。还有美丽壮观的纽约帝国大厦，也是一件建筑艺术杰作，当然没有人会否认它的实用性。

人需要美的享受，但由于快速的城市生活节奏，人们不可能每天都去参观博物馆，或者去野外感受大自然的美丽。如果在我们周围有了能够让人产生美感的建筑物，那么在每日上班的路上，我们就能够获得美的享受了。艺术型建筑物是一座有魅力的城市不可缺少的元素。没有这些建筑物的存在，城市就没有吸引人或者独特的地方。漂亮的建筑物能够从视觉上减轻人们的压力，使人们的每一天都在清新和愉快中度过。

总之，艺术型建筑物并非都没有实用性，不应该遭到抛弃。建筑师们应该更多地设计出实用性和艺术性兼备的建筑物来。
