Taoism: A Cultural Resource for Constructing Conservation-Minded Society

节约资源、保护环境以实现可持续发展，是世界各国共同关心的重大课题。中国政府高度重视实施可持续的发展战略，明确提出要加快建设资源节约型和环境友好型社会。

Saving resources and protecting the environment for sustainable development are major issues of common interests to all countries in the world. The Chinese Government has a high regard on implementing sustainable development strategy and explicitly has put forward the task of accelerating the pace of constructing a resource-conserved and environmental friendly society.

建设资源节约型社会，既需要依赖科技进步，以显著提高资源的利用效率，以尽可能少的资源消耗创造尽可能大的经济社会效益；也需要大力建设节约文化和节约文明，提高人们的节约意识，使节约成为全社会的一种自觉行动。

Constructing a resource-conserved society relies on the scientific progress to remarkably improve the efficiency of utilizing resources and creates as many economic and social benefits as possible but with as few resources as possible. At the same time, the government needs to vigorously construct a culture as well as a civilization of economy so as to make people more aware of the significance of practicing economy and make it a conscious action in the whole society.
