English
Version:
The
36th Asian Schools Football Champion held in BNU had a
successful conclusion yesterday. In those days, many athletes from
different countries and regions of Asia could be seen in our
campus. As for the students who live in the Yuehua Park, hardly
find the trace of those foreigners. While in Haihua Park,
especially in super market, Lize Lake and Town NO.1, it’s
frequently to see them. They always got together and wandered in
the campus. Sometimes we students would go to strike up a
conversation with them. But among them, some athletes who were in
green with brown skin, long noses, dark eyes and black hair were
outstanding and attracted our attention.
By coincidence, we were very fortunate to make the acquaintance of
three Pakistani guys --- Haider, Salman and Ammer. Haider, the
forward in the football team, was talkative and gentle. While
Salman was introverted and seldom talked, often following Jade as
she was his sister. Although that, he extraordinary looked like
Ming Dao, the famous actor in Taiwan. Ammer was nice and polite and
always patiently listened to my wordy sentences and even nonsense,
then replied me briefly. To our surprise that Ammer was the captain
of the football team and had scored two goals in this
match..
Their second language is English, but I had found it hard to catch
their ideas for their ‘special’ pronunciation. For instances, when
they said ‘car’, but it sounded like ‘gar’, and ‘Korea’ liked
‘Golia’. But anyway, we had a enjoyable and harmonious
talk.
As
for Pakistan, the Middle Eastern land, which is covered with the
mystery has ever attracted me so much but at the same time makes me
feel a little kind of undescribable feelings. During the talk, we
have the chance to get to know more about the culture there. Islam
indeed has a great impact in all their national lives.
In terms of entertainment, when we mentioned that there’re dancing
rooms in our campus, they were extremely exciting. Not because they
are keen on dancing, but in fact, they were not allowed in schools.
You cannot suppose that there isn’t karaoke in their country, while
there will be a free style concert once a week instead. Such kind
of concerts are just for the rock and pops lovers. They were really
enraptured by those kind of music.
When we were walking in the campus road, Ammar came up with a
question that why chinese students went to school by bike not by
car, while in their county, nearly each student owned a car. That’s
a interesting question that I have never think of. But after a
while, I answered “ well, it’s for saving energy, and do some good
for our nature.” Then Ammar described his favorite Jaguar (car’s
name) vividly.
Because of religious belief, they mustn’t eat pork. While in their
daily life, pancakes are the main meal instead of rice which is too
expensive to afford. Besides pancakes, they will mix onion,
potatoes, tomatoes, curry and all kinds of sauce together, no
matter what kinds of vegetable they want to cook, the meathods of
cooking are the same. As for our Chinese, who are always considered
ourselves as gourmet and pursuing the perfect combination of the
three elements ‘color, aroma and taste’, such kinds of food are
nothing but vegetable. It’s difficult to imaginable that whether I
can survive in Pakistan.
The Islamic women always wearing the coives arouse our interest. In
their language, a coif is “Newaad”, and pronounced “Negaad”. In our
concept, the women are in a low social position and walking in the
street in a hurry. But actually, on the contrast, whether they have
to wear coives depend on themselves; wearing the coives is because
women are respectable. By knowing that, I can’t help dreaming the
beauty of them. Besides, men and women are not allowed swimming in
the same public pool. Wow, there are really many taboos in
Pakistan.
To
come to China, one of the earliest cradles of civilization is the
dream of many people in Pakistan. Also, they enthusiasm for the
Chinese culture. When we talked about the Fisher Girl Statue, the
Pakistani guys showed great interest in it, and even wanted to know
more details about it. But as for us, we felt shame that we knew
little about it. I think that it’s necessary to gain more knowledge
about the Chinese culture.
Ammar has told me that he fail to buy a Chi-pao for his sister
because he hadn’t found such kind of shops. That’s a pity. I
convinced that it will be a big need to set up a brand with China
growing more and more internationalization. By this way, it will be
a more convenient for foreigners and provides an opportunity for
them to know more about China.
This was the first for these three Pakistani guys, and they also
had been to Australia, India and a country that I am not quite sure
about its name. Among them, Chinese impressed
them most because they never experienced anything other than the
utmost hospitality and genuine friendship of Chinese people. In a
moment I was very proud of being Chinese.
In the last night for them in Zhuhai, we had taken some photos. As
a saying goes ‘There are no feasts in the world which do not break
up at last.’ But we still shared the happy and memorable hour
together. Next year, they will apply for UIC. I deeply hope that
they will success and shape a more splendid future.
