《布兰诗歌》（Carmina Burana） 

1903年，考古学家在在德国巴伐利亚州的布兰（Burana）修道院中发现了大量神秘的中世纪诗稿，大约写于13世纪，歌词大部分为中世纪拉丁文。1847年经整理出版发行了《布兰诗歌》一书。德国古典音乐家卡尔·奥尔夫在1935年读到了这部诗集，受到极大震动，形成了一种对人类与自身命运的思考。他从200首诗歌中精选了24首诗进行了谱曲和改编，完成了一部全新的作品－《布兰诗歌，为独唱、合唱创作并伴有器乐及奇妙舞台场景的世俗歌曲》，这就是目前我们所熟悉的《布兰诗歌》（又称为《博伊伦诗歌》）。整个作品共分25个乐章，三个部分：1春天（Primo Vere），赞美大自然，2酒店里（In taberna），歌唱醉生梦死放荡不羁的生活，3爱的庭院（Courd`amours），颂扬对爱的渴望和对爱的忧伤。《布兰诗歌》是一曲对生命的赞歌，它在三个主题引导下涉及了“信仰”、“死亡”等动机，既有着世俗的欢乐成分，又有着史诗般的恢弘气势。其中所隐含的真正的动机，则是对短暂人生的垂怜、惋惜和哀叹。《布兰诗歌》充满了令人惊奇的成分和戏剧性，既有雄壮的呐喊，又有委婉的咏叹，乐队与咏唱交相辉映，令人震撼的打击乐强烈地扣击听众的灵魂。《布兰诗歌》把古典精神和现代意义联结来起来，为后来诸多现代音乐流派的兴起奠定了相当的作曲基础。Enigma的专辑《The Screen Behind the Mirror 浮世镜》﹑Era的专辑《The Mass 弥撒》都采用过《布兰诗歌》。
