Celestial Hierarchy: a traditional hierarchy
of angels ranked from lowest to highest into the following nine
orders: angels, archangels, principalities, powers, virtues,
dominions, thrones, cherubim, and
seraphim.

attendant upon the deity; variously represented, in the vision of
Ezekiel with four wings and four faces, those of a human, a lion,
an ox, an eagle; the winged bulls of Babylonia are also called
cherubim; in later Jewish and Christian literature the cherubim is
an order of angels, next below the seraphim; often represented by
painters as winged infants
