In the framework of the fruitful artistic and cultural
co-operation between the Central Conservatory of Music and the
Italian Institute of Culture of the Italian Embassy, we are
delighted to have the opportunity to co-organize, for the first
time this year, the series of concerts entitled “Focus on Italian
Early Music”.
Italian artistic and aesthetical creativity and conception has
played a fundamental role in the development of western classical
music, at least since the Renaissance age. In its wider and
commonly accepted meaning, “Early Music” includes the whole
Renaissance and Baroque, which undoubtfully are the times of the
deepest influence of Italian musicians to any form of classical
music and opera, as well as to music theory and instruments making.
For this reason, we are honored to contribute to the prestigious
“CCOM Baroque Music Festival and Pipe Organ Week” with this “Focus
on Italian Early Music”. We believe that focusing some concerts and
conferences on Italian Renaissance and baroque music is totally
coherent and helpful to a better understanding of the great musical
and stylistic movement of the Baroque age.
We are sincerely grateful to all the musicians and experts who
have supported this project, in particular to the artists and
professors of the Central Conservatory of Music, which has proven
again to be at the “vanguard” also in the research and development
of Baroque music in China.
