说到这,我不禁想起了电视剧《北京人在纽约》中的一句台词:“If you love him, take him to New York because it is heaven; if you hate him, take him to New York because it is hell.”
Fifth Avenue
The section of Fifth Avenue bordering central park has long been New York’s most prestigious (声望很高的)residential area. Luxury apartments abut (毗邻) former mansions, most of which have now become museums, consulates(领事馆), clubs or cultural institutions.
Madison Avenue
Lined with exclusive (高级的) stores, galleries and haute couture (高级女式时装) boutiques, this is a street for moneyed(有钱的) shoppers, where pedestrians(行人) often look as chic(别致的) as the window displays. Many of the fine brownstones (上流社会的, 富有阶级的) that made the avenue a choice residential district in the late 19c remain, now remodeled (重新塑造, 改造)with stylish storefronts(店面) at street level. Several early prestigious apartment buildings and apartment hotels also enhance the street’s genteel (上流社会的) character.
