Tom Gegax has the passion, vision, and energy to get Tires Plus on the road to exceptional customer service and to double in size and revenue in five year. While Tom’s management philosophy is admirably idealistic, he may need some additional strategies to accomplish his goals including setting realistic goals by being aware of the company’s current financial situation, surveying his competitors, determining whether his current organization can support the planned expansion, sharing his vision with employees, motivating managers and employees by letting them know how they’re going to benefit from the plan, providing training to employees, and implementing a recognition program to communicate milestones and to celebrate and reward achievements. As long as Tom plans well, organizes his approach, and evaluates and adjusts his business plan as needed, he’ll be on his way to success

First, Tom Gegax has a great idea in adopting sports as a pattern for his company’s structure. To achieve his goal, I think Tom should start by creating a mission statement for the company as a whole. Then, the coaches and teammates can co-create mission statements that support the company’s mission statement. All players must agree and be clear about what exceptional service really means. It’s important that there be a service standard, defined in the play book, so that all employees know what it is and so that customers (fans) have something on which to rely. In addition, to achieve the five-year goal, I think the coaches and teammates should write down personal goals and plan and take action that will help them achieve these goals. Success would be achieved when everyone is enjoying their work; are happy, healthy, and confident; and; as a result, continue to attract fans.
