Discuss the changes that are impacting manager’ s jobs.(讨论影响着管理者工作的变化)

Answers: the changes that impacting the manager’s job are:

changing technology(digitization)(变化着的技术应用)

        Increased threats to security(增长的对安全保障的威胁)

Increased emphasis on organizational and managerial ethics(增长的对组织道德和管理道德的关注)

        Increased competitiveness(增长的竞争)

Explain why customer service and innovation are important to the manager’s job.(解释顾客服务和改革创新对管理者工作的重要性)

Answers: importance of customers to the manager’s job.(顾客服务对管理者工作的重要性)

Every organization needs customers. without customers, most organizations would crease to exist. yet, focusing on the customer has long been thought to be the responsibility of marketing types. Managers everywhere are beginning to understand that delivering consistent high-quality service is essential for success and survival in today’ competitive environment and that employees are an important part of that equation. the implication is clear---they must create a customer-responsive organization where employees are friendly and courtous, accessible, knowledgeable, prompt in responding to customer needs, and willing to do what’s necessary to please the customer.(每个组织都需要顾客,没有顾客,大多数组织将不复存在。

Importance of Innavation to the manager’s job.

Innovation means doing things differently, exploring new territory, and taking risks. And innovation isn’t just for high-tech and technologically advanced organizations. Managers had to create and maintain an environment in which employees felt free to innovate, and managers had to act on the ideas. in today’s world, organizational managers—at all levels and in all areas—need to encourage their employees to be on the lookout for new ideas and new approaches, not just in the products or services the organization provides, but in everything that’s done.(改革创新意味着做不一样的事情,探索新的领域和冒险。

Describle the of an organization.(描述组织的特征)

Answers: organizations have 3 common characteristics. First each organization has a distinct purpose. Second, each organization is composed of people. Third, all organizations develop some deliberate structure so that their members can do their work.

Explain how the concept of an organization is changing.(解释组织的概念在怎样地变化)

Answers: traditional organization always has these characteristics:1.stable 2.inflexible 3.job-focused 4.work is defined by job positions 5.individual-oriented 6.permanent jobs 7.common-oriented 8.managers always make decisions 9.rule-oriented 10.relatively homogeneous workforce 11.workdays defined as 9 to 5 12.hierarchical relationships 13.work at organizational facility during special hours. And new organization has these characteristics: 1.dynamic 2. Flexible 3. Skills-focused 4.work is defined in terms of tasks to be done 5. team-oriented 6.temporary jobs 7.involvement-oriented 8.employees participate in decision making 9.customer-oriented 10.diverse workforce 11.workdays have no time boundaries 12.lateral and network relationships 13.work anywhere anytime. Compare the two forms of organizations, we can conclude that organization is no longer just structured with clearly identifiable divisions, departments, and work units. Those with flexible work arrengements, employee work team, open communication systems, and supplier alliances are much look like contemporary organizations. Today’s organizations are becoming more open, flexible, and responsive to changes.

Also, assuming that you will have to work for a living and recognizing that you’re very likely to work in an organization, you’ll probably have some managerial responsibilities even if you’re not a manager. our experience tells us that you can gain a great deal of insight into the way your boss behaves and the internal workings of organizations by studying management. Our point is that you don’t have to aspire to be a manager to gain something valuable from a course in management.(即使你不想成为管理者,你仍然要和管理者大交道。
