撑着油纸伞，独自 Holding an oil-paper
umbrella,
彷徨在悠长、悠长 I alone wander in a
lane,
又寂寥的雨巷
Long and deserted, in the rain.
我希望逢着
I wish to come across a girl
一个丁香一样地
Who is sad, melancholy, slight in degree
结着愁怨的姑娘
As the purple of a lilac.
她是有
She will be of
丁香一样的颜色
The color of a lilac,
丁香一样的芬芳
The fragrance of a lilac,
丁香一样的忧愁
The sadness of a lilac.
在雨中哀怨
She wanders, and sprinkles
哀怨又彷徨
Her sorrow in the rain.
她彷徨在这寂寥的雨巷 She wanders in the rain
撑着油纸伞
In this deserted lane.
像我一样
Like me, she holds an oil-paper umbrella.
像我一样地
Like me, she walks slowly
默默彳亍着
In silence and appears
寒漠、凄清，又惆怅 Aloof,
depressed, and melancholy.
她默默地走近
She comes close to me in silence,
走近，又投出
And upon me casts her eyes,
太息一般的眼光 Acting on
me like a deep sign.
她飘过
She passes slightly, elegantly,
像梦一般地
As in a fantasy,
像梦一般地凄婉迷茫 With the sadness, sweetness and confusion
of a dream.
像梦中飘过
Like a lilac,
一枝丁香地
Which drifts slightly in a dream,
我身旁飘过这女郎 The girl passes by me.
她静默地远了、远了 She walks away, further and further,
到了颓圮的篱墙
Until the collapsed wall,
走尽这雨巷
And out of the vision from the lane.
在雨的哀曲里
In the plaintive rain,
消了她的颜色
Disappears the vision of her,
散了她的芬芳
Fades away her scent,
消散了，甚至她的 Vanishes
even her mournful look,
太息般的眼光
Which acts like a deep sign,
丁香般的惆怅
As well as the sadness of a lilac.
