send
1) send sth. 送,发,寄,递
She send me a note thanking me for dinner.
send me a present/ a letter/ a basket of fruit/ a card/......

2) send someone to ... 送某人去某地

区分deliver, take, bring
看一下send的英文注释:
When you send someone something, you arrange for it to be taken and delivered to them, for example by post
由此可以看出,send 是表示委托第三人递送,即send所在句子的主语并不是“送”的动作的执行者

deliver,take 自己亲自带某人或某物到别处
deliver groceries, deliver the mail
Take this book home.
bring 指某人带某物到说话者处
bring me some water

1) 损坏,破坏, = injure, damage, destroy

区分spoile, injure, damage, destroy
spoil 使事物的完整性,完美性遭到破坏

injure 对肉体或情感的伤害
be badly injured in an accident
damage 指那种使价值、有用性和有效性减少的损害
A falling tree damaged the roof.
The scandal seriously damaged the senator's reputation.
destroy  彻底损害,摧毁(程度最深)

whole用法
表示整个 all the ...有两种表达法:1,2
1)the whole of ...
for the benefit of the whole of mankind 为了全人类的利益
The whole of Europe was astounded. 整个欧洲震惊了。
He put the whole of his money into the bank.
此外,the whole of + the + Noun时,可以简单用作: the whole + Noun
如:The whole of the house was on fire. ——〉The whole house was on fire.
I spent the whole day in the park.
2)a + whole + Noun
I devote a whole morning to the job.

whole的相关短语
as a whole 整体看来(所涉及到的事物是个整体,跟事物的各个方面无关)
I disliked the acting but enjoyed the play as a whole.
on the whole 表示所述的事实适用于大部分情况,个别可能会有例外
You can expect sunny weather, on the whole.
I don't pretend that housework is fun because on the whole it isn't.
 
single
强调语气的用法
1) 强调数量上的唯一,only one
She had but a single thought, which was to escape.
她现在只有一个想法,那就是逃跑。
2)强调某事物与其他的区别
Every single child will receive a gift. (暗示每个孩子的礼物都不一样)
Every single house has been damaged. (暗示每家都遭到了不同的破坏)

4)单程的 (英国英语用法,美语用one-way)
single ticket(one-way ticket) 单程票
a round-trip ticket, a return ticket 往返票
5)单打比赛

语法要点
1. 一般过去时
1)在确定的过去时间里所发生的动作或存在的状态。
  时间状语有:yesterday, last week, an hour ago, the other day, in 1982等。
  Where did you go just now?
2)表示在过去一段时间内,经常性或习惯性的动作。
  When I was a child, I often played football in the street.
  Whenever the Browns went during their visit, they were given a warm welcome.
2.直接宾语与间接宾语
直接宾语表示动作的结果,间接宾语表示动作的目标。
give sb. sth.
sb. 间接宾语
sth. 直接宾语
间接宾语放在后面时,前面加介词to(对...)或者for(为...)
give a book to me
oder a ticket for you
