作者简介

  索甲仁波切,生于西藏,由二十世纪最受敬重的精神导师蒋杨钦哲仁波切养育长大,为他日后的弘法事业,奠下扎实的基础。蒋杨钦哲仁波圆寂后,他又继续跟随敦珠仁波切和顶果仁波切修法。他于1971年前往英国剑桥大学研读比较宗教学,并于1974年开始于西方弘法。仁波切将佛法弘传到西方视为毕生的志业,因此写出《西藏生死书》,提供修炼的基础,使人们能够了解佛法,并实际与日常生活相结合。他具有天赋的沟通能力,且深谙西方人的心灵,他讲法清晰、亲切幽默,并能跨越宗教、文化和心理学的藩篱,直接揭示了佛法的精髓。

Since everything is but an apparition, 万事虽如梦幻泡影
Perfect in being what it is, 也要善尽其事。
Having nothing to do with good or bad, 不管善或恶,
Acceptance or rejection接受或拒绝,
You might as well burst out laughing! 你只要开怀大笑!

Sometime, somewhere you need to take something to be the truth. 在某种时空环境下,你必须把某些事当真

But if you cling to it too strongly, then even when the truth comes in person and knocks on your door, you will not open it. 但如果你太过于执著,当真理真的来敲你的门时,你就不懂得把门打开了

 

April 5

Visualize someone to whom you feel very close, particularly someone who is suffering and in pain. 想像一个你很亲密的人正在受苦,
As you breathe in, imagine you take in all their suffering and pain with compassion, 当你吸气时,观想自己以慈悲心吸进他的苦痛;
and as you breathe out, send your warmth, healing, love, joy, and happiness streaming out to them. 当你呼气时,观想你把你所有的温暖、治疗、爱、喜悦和快乐流向他。

Now, gradually widen the circle of your compassion to embrace first other people to whom you also feel very close, 现在,慢慢扩大你慈悲的范围,首先去拥抱你觉得亲近的人,
then to those about whom you feel indifferent, 然后是你觉得较疏远的人,
then to those whom you dislike or have difficulty with, 再来是你不喜欢或难以相处的人,
then even to those whom you feel are actively monstrous and cruel. 最后甚至扩及那些你觉得简直像怪物或残暴的人。
Allow your compassion to become universal, and to enfold in its embrace all sentient beings, and all beings, in fact, without any exception.让你的慈悲变得广大浩瀚,遍及一切众生,无一例外。

 

April 10
There are rough as well as gentle waves in the ocean; strong emotions come, like anger, desire, jealousy. 海洋中有巨浪也有小波;强烈的情绪,如愤怒、贪欲、嫉妒等也会产生。

The real practitioner recognizes them not as a disturbance or an obstacle but as a great opportunity. 真正的修行者不会认为它们是干扰或障碍,反而视为修炼的绝佳时机。

The fact that you react to arisings such as these with habitual tendencies of attachment and aversion is a sign not only that you are distracted but that you do not have the recognition and have lost the ground of Rigpa. 其实,如果你以执著和厌恶的习性,来对待这些情绪的生起,表示你不但已经分心,而且并没有察觉本觉的存在。

To react to emotions in this way empowers them and binds you even tighter in the chains of delusion. 用此种方式反应情绪,不但更增强、深化情绪,更把你紧密绑在妄念的锁链上。

The great secret of Dzogchen is to see right through them, as soon as they arise, to what they really are: the vivid and electric manifestation of the energy of Rigpa itself. 大圆满的大秘密就是:只要妄念一生起,就立即识破它,看清楚它的真面目——本觉能量鲜活炽烈的示现。

As you gradually learn to do this, even the most turbulent emotions fail to seize hold of you and instead dissolve, as wild waves rise and rear and sink back into the calm of the ocean. 当你慢慢做此修炼时,就算是最强烈的情绪也无法纠缠你,也会溶化;如同巨浪生起、高耸,而又沉没回到海洋的宁静中。

April 12
What should we “do” with the mind in meditation? 禅坐时,我们的心该怎么“做”?
Nothing at all. 什么都不要做。
Just leave it, simply, as it is. 只要不执著它,自然就好。
One master described meditation as “mind, suspended in space,nowhere.” 一位大师描述禅坐为“心悬挂在虚空中,无所执著。”

April 17
Rest in natural great peace在自然的深深宁静中安歇吧,
This exhausted mind这颗筋疲力尽的心灵,
Beaten helpless by karma and neurotic thought, 被业力和妄念鞭打得无助彷徨,
Like the relentless fury of the pounding waves
In the infinite ocean of samsara. 如同永恒的生死轮回大海
无情汹涌的猛浪。
Rest in natural great peace. 在自然的深深宁静中安歇吧。
