初恋(new love or beginning love)

it off from the start;it was almost love at first
sight. 他们开始就处得很好，似乎是一见钟情。(hit it off =get
along well)
They hit
it off very well right off the
bat.他们从一开始就相处得很好。(right off the bat = right
away /right from the beginning)
He has
(strong) feelings for her.他对她有了感情。(to have feelings
for sb.=to have emotional attachment to sb.)
They met
up in a coffee shop and discovered they
clicked.他们在咖啡馆见面，发现彼此合得来。（to meet up =to
meet; to click = to get along well)
He has
always had a crush on her. 他对她有了好感。
He is a
guy whom she has been carrying a torch for since high
school.她从高中时候就喜欢他。(to carry a torch for sb.= to
have a crush on sb.)
He met
her and immediately feel (hard) for
her.他一见到她就迷上她了。(to fall hard for someone
=
to be infatuated with
someone)
Infatuation can be the first step toward
love.（迷恋可能是爱情的第一步。）
They had
a great long time dinner with heavy
flirting.他们吃了一顿长时间的晚餐，彼此送秋波，抛媚眼。(flirting
= flirtation)
It seems
like things between them are heating
up.他们之间似乎认真起来。(to heat up = to get more
serious)
Once you
love him, don't go overboard; he may back
off.一旦你爱他，不可太积极，否则他会退却。(to go overboard =
to overdo; to back off = to pull away)
Let the
man do the pursuing, when something comes too easily, it often is
not
valued.要让男人来追你，一件东西要太容易到手，就不珍贵了。(pursuing
= chasing)

in love through their eyes; women fall in love from their
ears. (= Men like beauty; women like
compliments.)男人爱女人因为她爱起来迷人；女人爱男人因为说起话来体贴温柔。

other.他们愈谈，彼此愈喜欢。(to fall for someone = to be
attracted to someone)
Take a
hard look before leaping into a
relationship.在坠入感情前，要先张大眼睛，仔细观察。(hard
look = have your eyes wide open, leaping = jumping)

hollow.虽然他说他爱她，但他说的似乎是空话。(ring hollow =
seem empty)

suspicious.他不诚恳，令她怀疑。(acndor = candour =
honesty)
She loves
him, but is not in love with her.
她爱他，但不是与他谈恋爱。(love指一般的爱，to be /fall in love with
someone指与某人谈恋爱)

afraid she will not be able to catch the man of her
dreams.她怕找不到她梦中的男人。
He never
felgood enough for her.他总是觉得自己与她不相配。(to feel
good enough = to feel adequate)
She is no
spring chikcen and never ezpects to find love
again.她不年轻了，不敢期待找到爱人。(no spring chicken = not
young)
Keep your
chin up; love is just around the
corner.提起精神吧，爱情即将来临。(to keep one's chin up = to
keep one's spirit up)
She feels
ready to test the water and begins
dating.她觉得可以尝试一下约会。(to test the water = to try
it out,it指water,也就是指dating)
Many
people call dating the boss a
no-no.许多人认为不可与上司约会。(no-no 当名词用）
She is
living by Victorian principles; right now their relationship is
based on platomic
love.她的生活很保守，目前他们的关系只是纯洁的友谊。(Victorian
principles本指维多得亚时代的守旧原则＝Very
conservative,V要大写；Platomic love本指柏拉图式的精神恋爱＝Just
common friend)
They had
an on-and-off relationship for one
year.他们一年来有断断续续感情。
It is
appropriate for her to check up on him
sometimes.她有时对他做些调查，也是恰当的。(to check up on
sb. = to investigate sb.)
Love is
at its best when it is mutual; when it's not, it's torture.
彼此相爱是最好的，否则是受罪。
As he is
smart and handsome, he leads her into
temptation.由于他英俊聪明，让她着迷。(he leads her into
temptation = he seduces her)
It's
worth kissing a few frogs to meet a Prince
Charming.如能找到理想的人，即使之前遇到几位不好的人也是值得的。(frog本指青蛙，此指不美或不好的男人＝wrong
or ugly man, Prince Charming本是神话中完美的男子＝handsome dream
man; P和C都要大写，也就是王子与青蛙之别）
