外贸英语之---  抱怨与调停 Complaints and Adjustments  letter 15(5)

 

Dear sirs,

 

We wish to refer to our letter dated 20th May and your letters of 12th, 17th and 19th April, in which you made a claim on our last shipment of spare parts.

 

After further consultation with the manufacturers of the goods, we regret to say that we are unable to come to any positive result which would help clear the situation.

经再次与厂方联系,我们仍未能得到有助于澄清情况的积极结果,对此我们深感遗憾。

 

Our manufacturers are of the opinion that by a few traces of rust no harm could be done to those spare parts.厂方认为一点锈斑无损于这些零件。 They are not precision instruments after all, which would need different packing. 它们毕竟不是需要个别包装的精密仪器。 Our manufacturers therefore come to the conclusion 厂方结论是:that there is no valid ground for complaint so long as such a defect does not in the least affect the use of the goods.只要这一缺点对货物的使用毫无影响,就没有值得抱怨的。

 

In consequence,因此, we consider it difficult to file a claim against the manufacturers. Nevertheless,虽然如此 we are prepared to straighten out the matter in an amicable way by paying you a rebate of 5% so as to start with a clean slate.我们愿意以友好的方式解决此事,给你方百分之五的回扣,以了结旧事重新开始业务。

 

We hope that our proposal 建议(名词)will be acceptable to you for the settlement of the pending case so that we may continue doing business with you shortly.

 

We look forward to having your early reply.
