英语学习不要忽视策略(视频)(2008-01-22 10:50:07)
影响外语学习成效的有四要素:学习者自身;老师;环境;学习策略。听完北外胡文仲教授的讲座,你将会明白四要素间的关系以及各自起到的作用。
There're two
types of learning: unconscious learning and conscious
learning.
For instance, you are now listening to me. You are not trying to learn a word or phrase, here and there. You are just listening for content. You want to find out what I am saying. But in the course of that, you're also learning some English. You are not aware of it. You are not conscious of it. As a matter of fact, we are learning English mostly unconsciously.
Er, there is .. er .. scholars have done a lot of research on that. One of those scholars is Steven Krashen, an American scholar, who says basically what you learn unconsciously is what you can use. And what you learn consciously is what you use as monitor. That is you use as a check.
And this conscious use of learning strategies is what we concentrate on today. So as I said, there is so many factors. There is the learner, there's teaching, there's the environment, there is also unconscious process of learning. But what we are interested in today is the use of learning strategies. 学习策略的使用。And all these contribute to the outcome of learning.
Whether you succeed or not, in learning a foreign language depends on all these factors. But today I'm not talking about whether you are suitable for language learning or not. Neither am I talking about language …. teacher qualifications or the syllabus, or the environment. What I will be talking about is chiefly the use of learning strategies.
Now studies have shown that other things being equal, learning strategies play a significant role in determining the outcome of learning. In other words, if other conditions are the same, for instance, the environment is the same, you have the same teachers, you have the same teaching material, and your language aptitude is basically the same, you are within the same age group. If all these things are basically the same, learning strategies play a very important role. Whether decisive or not, I don't know. But all these factors, learning strategies are very very important .. erm .. in determining whether you can succeed in learning English.
