today we’re going to be talking about youth hostels.

Jo: While being ordered to do the chores and forgo life’s little luxuries. To
forgo something.

私和各种服务等奢华的待遇。而简易的青年旅则没有。嗯，Jo 这么说a youth
hostel is a place to stay where you share a room and do chores. That
doesn’t sound too pleasant. 那我不清楚这些青年旅社100 年后的当今社会还
有市场吗？人们还会去那里住店吗?
Jo: A person who travels around and stays in different hostels is a youth
hosteller, youth hosteller, but there is a verb to youth hostel. Youth
hostelling means to travel around and stay in different hostels. Here’s
one youth hosteller with her reasons.

It’s good value as well, it's not just that they’re cheap, although nowadays you’re
paying £10 to £15 most nights, it’s hot showers, and good drying room facilities,
good kitchen facilities. And most of the hostels I’ve stayed at have been very well
kitted out.
Jo: She said it’s good value. Nowadays you’re paying £10 to £15 most

Li: Good value 好价钱，物有所值。Nowadays 眼下，如今。还有热水淋浴呢。
Jo: Hot showers, good drying room facilities and good kitchen facilities.

Jo: Most of the hostels are well kitted out.
On BBC Learning English today we’re talking about youth hostels to
celebrate the 100th year of youth hostelling. Now this youth hosteller
has been youth hostelling for 13 years. Her father did it before her and
her grandfather did it before the Second World War.

I’ve been hostelling I think for about 13 years and my dad obviously did it before
that and my grandfather, he was certainly youth hostelling before the Second
World War, back in the days when you weren’t allowed to turn up any way other
than on foot and by bike. There was no drinking in the hostel and you had to do

Jo: So when her grandfather was a youth hosteller, you weren’t allowed to
turn up any way other than on foot and by bike.
Li: To be allowed to do something 获准做某事turn up 前来，抵达。除了步行
和骑自行车外，不准到任何地方去。
Jo: So when you walk somewhere we always say on foot but if you travel
somewhere in something we use by. By bike, by car, by bus, etc.
Li: 请大家注意on 这个介词表示步行on foot. 但是在和其他交通工具连用时，比如
自行车，火车等等都需要用另一个介词by, by bike and by train. 这位女士还
说，过去的青年旅社里是不能饮酒的。
Jo: When she says there was no drinking she means no drinking alcohol.
And you had to do your chores before you were allowed out in the
morning.

满严格的– 那么现在情况有没有变化呢？ Here’s another youth hosteller.

They’re a bit more swish than they used to be – we used to have to do chores
and the wardens would make you clean the toilets, sweep the dormitories or
whatever, and there’s none of that anymore.
Jo: So he said they are more swish than they used to be. Swish.
Li: Swish 是一个较为口语化词意思是，时髦的，奢华的或讲究的。
Jo: He also remembers how they used to have to do chores. He said the
wardens would make you clean the toilets or sweep the dormitories.
The wardens.
Li: Dormitories 宿舍，wardens看门人，管家。他们让住店客人清扫厕所和扫地
sweep. 不过那已是过去的事情了。
Jo: He says there’s none of that anymore. So youth hostels are changing.
Here’s Duncan Simpson from the YHA, the Youth Hostelling Association.
Li: YHA 就是国际青年旅社协会的缩写。Duncan 说，如果你看看社会的变化the
movement in society.
Jo: If you look at the movement in society, people have looked for more
privacy and more comfort in recent times.

一下为我的正面回复：

首先，如果你要对号入座，那么我也没办法，因为我不是针对某个人写的上篇文章，而是对集中体现的几个比较幼稚的问题。而且，我也记不住到底谁问过我什么问题，问我问题的是谁。

其次，所谓“贵为老师”这个大帽子实在不敢接受。因为我早在课堂上说过，我只是个教书匠，没有那么崇高。我教书的原因就是：兴趣 + 收入

至于“问你问题不是仰慕你”那就更没有必要在此用了。现在都什么年代了，还用“仰慕”这个词实在严重，而且对颈椎也不会。我也从来没有认为被问问题是被人仰慕，要这样的话，114查号台的工作人员是最受仰慕的。而且，我在课后对学生问题的解答可以说是细致耐心，而且每次都会下课后延长20分钟与同学交流的时间，所以，我对学生的负责程度学生知道，我知道。不用你来指手画脚。

你的留言中，真正的不满在于“他妈的”这个词。那好，我告诉你，这个词看你怎么用。我在上篇文章中说的是“他妈的我白学了...”，主语是我，“他妈的”只是个定语，或者理解成为一个语气助词。而不是“你他妈的”！！！！！！从这一点来看，你的中文水平实在不敢恭维，而且有过敏体质。说难听点儿，叫“抓X抹脸！”

对了，改你一个错别字，那叫粗鲁而不是“粗怒”。连中文的N 和 L 都不分，啧啧啧...啧啧啧...

还有，你对“如何得到他人的尊重”的理解过于狭隘。对于一个老师来说，是不是只有认真回答问题，才能得到别人的尊重呢？认真回答问题只是一个人的态度问题，但是给你答案的质量才是你真正应该关心的问题。看来，你只喜欢老师对你的问题首先来个肯定的表扬，说你这个问题问的好，问的有水平，你问的是所有人心中的一个问题，我谢谢你的问题。那么关于如何解决这个问题是你不关心的事儿了，随便给一个答案都可以，你就满足了。看来，你所谓的尊重就是肤浅的一个态度，而非真正的实效性。

在这里我只想说：忠言逆耳利于行。在刺激和压力下的进步会比在虚伪的鼓励中大的多！

一个老师也是人，说个“他妈的”又怎么了。而且不是对他的学生。

学生要的是知识，给你有价值的知识才是关键，而不是一个谦卑，肉麻的态度。至少那样让我很恶心。而且我从不骂我的学生，或不尊敬我的学生，相反，我对他们怎么样只有他们最清楚。还有我的评分表上的评语能证明一切。我不需过多解释，其实也不想搭理你的留言，只是觉得博客解封后，应该练练写作了，刚好这个留言激起了我的兴趣。

现在的学生学习太过于安逸了，结果造成了学生的能力急剧下降，老师培养学生走歪门邪道，几天速成的能力嗖嗖地上升。作为一名培训学校的老师，将近5年的培训生涯对于我个人的提高实在是太大了，有时，我真觉得要感谢那些对我提出种种要求，（有合理的，有不合理的，还有脑残的和变态的）要求的同学们。正因为他们一直把那种又想掌握知识，又不想付出的这种期望无限的建立在了我们的身上，才造就了一个又一个的大师们，挖掘了我们一层又一层的潜力。

说实话，学习本身就是一个内因的问题（internal causes),自己首先应该主动(be initial and positive), 而不是说谁强迫你，或你要随着其他人。比如，早上起来，有些同学对去不去上今天的课很纠结，然后问你的同伴，“你去不去啊” ？如果其他人去，你可能也随着去。如果其他人不去，这时，你就觉得不去是应该的，而且得到了群众的支持。

上面这种情况在我读大学时我也做过。现在想起来很幼稚，而且觉得当自己问身边的人是不是去上今天的课时，本身就是自己不想去的表现了，只不过在现实中不想去揭露自己的这个虚伪的面目，结果还拽了一个同学下水。真是stupid. 我现在还很后悔的一件事就是当时在大学怎么没有同时学两个专业。我的有些积极上进的同学在4年后，拿到了两个专业的硕士文凭。这相当于在相同的时间里，比我多上了4年大学。哎.....

记得我在备考专业八级的时候，我拿出了两种特性，一种是血性，这个应该是男儿大丈夫也该有的。既然决定要好好学习了，那么就一条道走到头。我觉得这个不仅仅局限于Boys or Men。对于所有下决心的人都应该有一个血性。拼了！跟Y 死磕！！！！比如你可以写下如此陋室铭来每天鼓励自己：我，XXX，今天下定决心要跟Y雅思考试死磕！！！！天地为证，我将履行我的誓言。

然后那时的我立下军令状，要和专八死磕，从那天开始，我就变成了一名奋青。记住是奋斗的奋，不是那种傻逼愤青。更不是米共那个粪。

还有对于大多数成功的人还有学习的人来说，他们都像狼一样，有高度的独立性。不依靠于任何人，完全自主自己的世界.只有一个人的时候，我才能静下来，才能独立思考，才能提升自己的内功。

所以，从现在开始，如果你励志要学好一样技能，请不要问如下幼稚问题，且没有水准：

上个培训班真能提高我的英语水平吗-----------记住，我们是应试。综合能力的水平如果在一个月就能提升，那他妈的还学十年的英语干球啊（初中3年+高中3年+大学四年）。但是，培训学校的老师，我这里不是吹嘘，确实有很多牛X的人，能够很快的给你点睛解惑，短期提高技巧方面的能力和学习兴趣。

举个例子，我曾跟我同学说北京的“馄饨”其实是叫错的，应该读作馄饨（hún tun），不是（hún dun），他没把我的话当回事，后来他去超市看到馄饨包装上的汉语拼音后跟我说我说对了。不过我平时吃饭要馄饨时我也都说错误的。还有去年的三聚氰胺，四个字我读错两个。现在才知道念（sān jù qíng àn），过去我都读（sān jù qīng ān）。 

下面我就列10个字，保你大吃一惊，甚长学问。恐怕你能读对一个就不错了。请不要针对我这句话较真，我只是针对大众来说，不是个别人，肯定有人能读对几个甚至全能读对。我只想说这10个字是我们常常读错的，或许你对某个字有过特殊经历已经认识了。当然也不要误会，我不是到这里卖弄学问来了，这都是我曾经犯过的错误，只是比别人早点纠正而已。下面这些字是我积累了两年才总结出来的，因为一下想不起来这么多，我哪天想起一个就写在一张纸上，坚持了两年，看来差不多了，我就拿出来显摆显摆。 

噱头（xué tou）：“噱”这个字我和其他人一样都念成四声，后来看电视北京台的一个主持人说有观众提意见告诉她她所念的噱头是错误的。后来她更正后我也知道了。

稍息（shào xī）：我们从小上体育课都念对了，但是一旦写下来反而就错了。因为我们一向认为口语中的稍息读四声是错误的，谁知口语居然是对的。

参与（cān yù）：

翘首（qiáo shǒu）：

召开（zhào kāi）：参与、翘首和召开、号召这几个词哪怕是中央电视台节目主持人都会读错，春节晚会上朱军每次都读错。许多人都是参与的与读三声，翘首的翘都读成了四声，召开的召读一声。这个可能跟历史读法有关。

摒弃（bìng qì）：多数人都读摒弃为bǐng qì。

压轴（yā zhòu）：小时候偶尔会听到一些老师读四声，但我没有查过字典，后来突然一天还是查了下，居然就是读四声。

扛鼎（gāng dǐng）：我们天天说谁的电影是扛鼎之作，可惜读对的人没几个。都按照扛大鼎的意思去念了。

打烊（dǎ yàng）：这是个多音字，只有当说糖化了才读二声。

倔强（jué jiàng）：许多人都念倔为四声，大概是因为这个人很倔读四声的原因吧。 

还有许多读错的字，个别人读错我们都不说，我只是说大众都读错的。还有一些字本来应该是读对的，比如几乎，我认为这个多音字考试也经常会有的。但平时说话都喜欢读三声。我觉得这个字大多数人你一问他知道怎么读，不问就会读错。下面的字应该属于这种吧！

时下选秀节目很火，实际上来自于美国的“American idol competition”，里面不仅有talented people, 还有一些very touching moment。

Actually, I don't like those show-biz娱乐圈. Because those boys and girls are very shallow 肤浅and those shows are too commercial过于商业化. But there is one show impressed me deeply called “Britain Talent show”. I first saw it on the internet.

So, until now, whenever I watched his performance on internet, I can always get a power from him. and his case proved a saying : where there is will, there is way.

An important stage in my life

Well, since the day I can write until now, I have received many letters from relatives, friends, teachers and others. But there is one I considered most important among them , it is the offer  from my most wanted university. After the university entrance exam, I was looking forward to the offer from my most wanted university all the time, but there was no postman knocking on my door, then, I felt upset and a little bit panic, I phoned my friends asked if they had got the offer. To my surprise, most of them had got the offer from their dream school. At that time, my parents began to doubt me, and I began to feel hopeless and desperate. As time went by, my hope had gone far far away from me. One day, the door bell rang, a post man appeared, and said: are you Mr. Tang? I said : yes. “wow, congratulations! This is your school offer!” I could hardly wait to unseal the envelope, it is said I was accepted by my most wanted school, and should be there before sep. 1.

I cried out of joy and fear, it reminded me of those terrible preparations for the exam. But my sacrifice is really worth of it. You know, being qualified for one`s most wanted university is every students` dream in china. and this letter is really a turning point.

该怎样去提高语言表达能力呢？研习、背诵和模仿范文(包括其他优秀英文文章)是个有效的途径。这是因为：写作是个语言输出的过程，而要想保证输出的质量，就一定要保证有大量、高质量的输入。研习和背诵范文就是这样的一个输入和积累的过程。当然，首先要搞清楚研习范文的含义。所谓研习范文，绝非仅仅是把别人的文章看懂，而是要本着独立思考的精神，根据自己的实际情况，研究并吸取范文中精华的部分。换句话说，就是要把范文中的漂亮词汇和句型(但不限于词汇和句型)通过背诵和重复记忆内化成自己的东西，以便在以后写作中的用到。所以，这个过程体现要体现出研习范文之后对今后写作的影响。只有这样做，才能从根本上避免很多同学把输入范文和输出写作割裂开来的误区，从而做到“范文好，我的作文也好”，并最终实现“大家好，才是真的好”的喜人场面。

　　b. purpose比较抽象，such as getting information or emailing friends属于对purpose内容的解释，通过对抽象名词的细化，一方面可以把凑点字数，把句子写得比较长，另一方面，使得句子更细节化。

奥数不适合绝大多数孩子，不能提倡全民学奥数，这是专家早就得出的定论。今年以来，封杀奥数的呼声越来越高。北京、重庆、成都、徐州、长春等城市纷纷推出或正酝酿封杀“全民奥数”的举措，让奥数回归“小众”本位。

今年7月初，成都媒体爆出猛料，针对目前奥数培训的疯狂现状，成都市教育局将出台相关政策，彻底封杀“疯狂奥数”。

据悉，疯狂奥数培训的链条上，教师起了至关重要的作用。成都即将出台的规定中有一条就是要求教师一律不得到校外培训机构兼职担任奥数老师，也不准私下开办奥数培训班。违者甚至可能被开除公职。
