在各个英语学习论坛上，经常可以看到有关Chinglish（中式英语）的文章，但一般都是中国人写的。不过我看到一篇长文，也是有关Chinglish的，但却是美国人写的，很有意思。这篇长文的标题是Chinglish 2 English（从中式英语到标准英语），作者是浙江大学的美国外教Chuck Allanson，内容则是Chuck在中国五年任教期间所听到、所看到的各种Chinglish说法。  


比如Chuck第一次来中国，下飞机后，负责接待他的东北某大学英语系陈老师说：您刚到，我们吃点饭吧。我们要点Chinese dumpling（饺子）和Chinese beancurd（豆腐），您看可以吗？Chuck以前从未听说过这两种东西，但出于好奇，就说可以，结果饭菜端上来一看，原来就是ravioli（饺子，来自意大利语）和tofu（豆腐，来自日语）。Chuck当时心里暗想，这两种东西，国际上早已经有通用的说法（ravioli和tofu），他们中国人为什么还要用那种生僻的说法呢？以后Chuck跟陈先生混熟了，就问他，当初你为什么不说ravioli和tofu呢？陈先生听了大吃一惊，连忙解释说，我真的不知道这两个词，而且我们的《英汉词典》上也没有这两个词。 

于是Chuck开始意识到，中国的英语教师、英语课本、甚至英语词典肯定存在问题，否则不可能发生这种事情。在中国五年的任教期间，Chuck收集了大量的Chinglish说法，从中挑选出一组最常见的，编写了上面提到的那篇长文。

下面就是这些Chinglish说法，其中每行第一部分是汉语说法，第二部分是Chinglish说法，第三部分则是英语的标准说法。

I'm so fed up with your BS. Cut the crap. 我受够了你的废话,少说废话吧.

    美女(美国的女人)是不喜欢说shit这个不雅的字的,所以她们就说shoot,或是BS(=Bull shit)来表示她们还是很有气质的. "Cut your crap."是当你听到对方废话连篇,讲个不停时,你就可以说, "Cut the crap."相当于中文里的废话少话.

    2. Hey! wise up! 放聪明点好吗?

    当别人作了什么愚蠢的事时,你可以说, "Don't be stupid"或是"Don't be silly."但是这是非常不礼貌的说法.比较客气一点的说法就是, wise up!它就相当于中文里的放聪明点.你也可以用坚酸刻薄的语气说. Wise up, please.然后故意把please的尾音拉得长长的.

    也有人会说, Hey! grow up.意思就是你长大一点好不好?例如有人二十岁了却还不会自己补衣服,你就可以说Hey! grow up.这根wise up是不是也差不多呢?

    3. Put up or shut up. 要吗你就去做,不然就给我闭嘴.

    有些人就是出那张嘴,只会出意见,此时就可以说, Put up or shut up.要注意的是,Put up字典上是查不到"自己去做"的意思,但是见怪不怪,很多笔记本上的用法都是字典上查不到的.比方说今天你在写程式,有人明明不懂却喜欢在一旁指挥你,这时候你就可以说, Put up or shut up.

    有时为了要加强shut up的语气,老美会把它说成, shut the f**k up.这句话常在二人火气很大时的对话中可以听到,例如电影The house on the haunted hill女主角身陷鬼屋之中,其它人又七嘴八舌时,她就很生气地说了一句, shut the f**k up.

    这句话也让我想到一句成语, walk the walk, talk the talk,也就是说到就要作到,有点像是中文里知行要合一的意思,或是只说, walk the talk也可以.

    4. You eat with that mouth? 你是用这张嘴吃饭的吗?

    别人对你说脏话,你就回敬他这一句,言下之意,就是你的嘴那么脏,你还用这张嘴吃饭.还有一种说法, "You kiss your Momma with that mouth?"就是说你也是用这脏嘴亲你***吗?所以下次记得如果有老美对你说脏话,记得不要再Fxxx回去,保持风度,说一句, "You eat with that mouth?"就扯平了

    5. You are dead meat. 你死定了.

    我们说你完蛋了,可以说"You are dead."或是像这样说"You are dead meat."意思都是一样的,比如说你跟别人说过不淮碰我的东西,但有人他就是老爱用你的东西,下次要是再被你抓到,你就可以说, "You are dead meat."

    6. Don't you dare! How dare you! 你好大的胆子啊!

    这句话跟中文里"你好大的胆子"是一样,可以在二种场合说,第一种是很严肃的场合,比如说小孩子很调皮,讲又讲不听,父母就会说, "Don't you dare!"那意思就是这个小孩要当心点,不然等会就要挨打了.另一种场合是开玩笑,比如有人跟你说我跟某网友约会去了,你说"Don't you dare?"就有点开玩笑的语气. (你不怕被恐龙给吃了吗?)

    Dare在英文里还有许多有趣的用法,例如, "You dare me."或是"I double dare you."还有一种游戏叫Truth or Dare,限于篇幅,容后再作介绍.

    7. Don't push me around. 不要摆布我.

    这个词很有意思,把你推来推去,作摆布解释,如果有人指挥你一下作这个一下作那个,你就可以用这一句Hey! Don't push me around.通常当我讲"Don't push me around."时,我还会想到一个字bossy. Bossy就是说像是老板一样,喜欢指挥别人.例如,"You are so bossy. I don't like that."

    这句话也可以单讲, "Don't push me."或是"Don't push me any further."还有一句根push有关的成语,叫push the button,意思就是,指使, *纵.例如, "I know why you are doing this, someone is pushing your button!"

    8. Are you raised in the barn? 你是不是乡下长大的啊?

    这句话是形容一个人没教养,但是是比较开玩笑的语气.比如说有人坐没坐像,你就可以对他说这一句. Barn原指 仓.我翻成乡下比较能跟中文的意思结合.老美常用barn或是backyard来形容一个人没有教养或是没有文化,像是那天在电视上听到一句,"No backyard language in my house."就是说,在我的家里不准讲粗话.

    9. You want to step outside? You want to take this outside? 你想要外面解决吗?

    老美跟我们一样,要是二个人一言不合吵起来了,可能就有人要说这一句了.指的就是要不要出去打架啦.还有一些我听过类似的用法,例如, "Do you want to pick a fight?" 你要挑起争端吗?或是"This means war."这就意谓著跟我宣战.

    10. You and what army? You and who else? 你和哪一路的人马啊?

    要是有人跟你说"Do you want to step outside?",就回他这一句吧.意思是说,是喔...那你找了多少人马要来打架啊?有时候电视里出现这句对白的时候,还会打出一排军队的计算机动画,非常地有意思.

    还有一句话也很好玩,叫"Who's side are you on?"这就是在快要打架时,你问人家说,你到底是站在哪一边的?

主词可用任何人称的单复数 (I, we, they 等)，动词可用 verb to be 的任何时态 (is, was, were, will be, have been等)。因此，也可以说：

That's a cool T-shirt.（好看的运动衫）
He (she) is a cool person.（文雅礼貌的人）
但是如果说：Are you cool？又是指「你冷吗？」(cool = cold)，可见 cool 当口头禅或俚语时，多半不用在问句。假如说：

She looks as cool as a cucumber. 又是恭维语，是说她很 calm and charming; not emotional. 但为何用黄瓜 (cucumber) 代表，则不得而知。
(注：许多华人把 cool 译成「很酷」)

2. Are you trippin'？：trippin' 这个字，是由动词 trip 演变而来。（动词时态是：tripped, tripping）年轻人用省略符号 (apostrophe ) 代替 g，表示是 slang，或口头禅。这个字是现在分词当形容词用，是指行为异乎寻常，也许受到吸毒或喝酒的影响，而显得神魂颠倒、奇形怪状(to get high on drug such as LSD)，也就是说：要不是受到药、酒的影响，你为什　显得这样古怪呢？(Are you under any influence of drug or alcoholic? Why are you so crazy and bizarre?) 所以可以说：

They are trippin'. （= tripping）
She (he) is trippin'.
Mr. A must be trippin'.
通常只用在年轻人身上，而且不是恭维语。

3. He is a nerd：nerd 是指一些年轻人，每天只懂读书、考试，但对生活上的其他事情，都很生疏。 (A person always buries his nose in books, but not good at social situations.）
由於美国十分重视多方面发展的教育 (well-rounded)，所以许多老外认为 nerd 虽然学识不错，但很乏味；有IQ，但缺乏EQ，只是社会上无足轻重的「书虫」或「蠢货」而已。(IQ = Intelligence Quotient ; EQ = Emotional Quotient)
nerd 可用复数，动词也能用其他时态。因此可以说：

He used to be a nerd in high school. (过去他在高中时是位书呆子)
Many Chinese students are（或 have been）considered nerds.
至於 geek 这个字，虽然与 nerd 相似，年轻人也常用，但 geek 是指在某一方面有很高的 IQ。我们可以说：

He is a computer geek. (意思是：虽然他是书呆子，但电脑很棒)
另外，年轻人还用 jerk 这个字，通常是指没有社交技巧，头脑简单或古怪，令人讨厌的家伙(annoying person)，如果你不喜欢一个人，就可以说：

I don't like him because he is a jerk.

也可以用复数：
Many jerks are working in our company.

主词也可以用其他人称，动词也可用其他时态：
They are jerks; He was a jerk in the past; Mr. A has been jerk for years.
(注：有时年轻人也用 dork 这个字，但不如 jerk 流行)

4. Yo baby：Yo baby 是许多年轻的黑人男子对女子的招呼语，也有人用“Yo baby, yo baby yo”，由於女子很漂亮，很吸引人，他想与她交谈。(He thinks she is pretty and attractive, so he wants to speak to her.)，也就是找话题，想要「打开话匣」。(to use as a form of opening line or pick-up line or to begin a greeting; try to know her or date her) 如果说：

Yo baby, are you trippin'? 意思是：漂亮的姑娘，你的样子有点怪里怪气，有什　心事吗？
“Yo baby" 後面可跟任何可以「打开话匣」的句子。诸如：May I help you with something?
I think I have met you somewhere before.
同理，如果年轻女子看到帅哥，有吸引力，很想与他交谈，那　就用：“Hey, hey, hey" 後跟任何可以「打开话匣」的句子。诸如：

Hey, hey, hey, what's going on？“what is going on？”就是年轻黑人打招呼的用语 (a form of greeting or open statement) 或
Hey, hey, hey, are you going to the movie？(帅哥，你是去看电影吗？)

5. She is a ho：ho 这个字，也是美国年轻人把 whore 字改变而成的一种口头禅或俚语。意思是指一些年轻女人，也许因为 peer pressure 或 curiosity 或 enjoyment 的心理，随便自愿与男子免费上床。(a girl or woman gives sex freely without charge)，也就是说：She is very loose. 或 She is a loose woman (girl)。
ho 也可用复数：

They are (were) hos.
There are quite a few hos in high schools. 但是如果用 whore，是指妓女，男人需要付钱的。(a girl or woman is paid for sex.)

6. Catch you later！这是年轻人说「再会」的口语。(a form to say“good乡bye”) 也就是说：现在没有时间与你交谈，以後再谈吧！(I don't have time to talk with you now, but we can talk later.)
因此，catch 就是 talk 或 contact 的意思。catch 後面，也可用其他人称代名词（him, her, them 等）

以下为一些「禁忌」（taboo）的美语之整理。毕竟这些都是咱们日常生活的一部分，说不定有一天这些「禁忌」之语还能「派上用场」呢！

　　厕所
　　在美国一般都叫rest room或bath room（男女厕均可）或分别叫做 men‘s room 或 ladies‘ room（=powder room），不过在飞机上，则叫 lavatory，在军中又叫 latrine。至于 W.C.（water closet）仍是过去英国人用的，在美国，几乎没有人使用。

　　解小便
　　最普通的说法是 to urinate（名词是 urination），如果去看病，护士为了化验小便，就会给你一个杯子说：「Will （could） you urinate in this cup？」医生或许也会问：「Do you have trouble urinating？」=Do you have difficulty voiding？（小便有困难吗？）

　　此外，还有其他的说法：to piss = to take a piss = to take a leak = to void = to empty。 例如：

　　* I need to piss = I have to take a leak.
　　* How often do you get up at night to void？（晚上起床小便几次？）

　　此外，john（j 小写时，不是男人名字）是 bath room 或 toilet 的意思（也叫 outhouse），这通常是指在户外工作场地所使用的临时或流动性厕所（有时前面也加 portable 一字）。不过也有老外把家里的厕所叫做 john。 例如：

　　* There are several （portable） johns in the construction site.（在建筑场地有几个临时厕所。）
　　* He went to the john a few minutes ago.（他在几分钟前上了厕所。）
　　* The manual labours have to use (portable) johns during their working hours.（劳动者在工作时间内需要使用流动性厕所。）

　　不过，小孩多半用 to pee 。例如：

　　* The boy needs to pee.

　　然而，「小便检查」又叫做 urine test，因为这里的 urine 是化验的样品（specimen）。 例如： 　

* Do I need a urine test?

　　注意：to piss off 是片语，又是指对人生气或对事物的不满。不过这是不礼貌的片语，少用为妙。 例如：

　　* He pissed me off. = He made me angry.
　　* He always pisses off （at） the society.（对社会不满）

　　如果「小便」有毛病，也可以告诉医生说：
　　* My urine is cloudy and it smells strong.（有浊尿，味道很重）
　　* I have pus （或air）in urine.（尿有泡沫） （pus = cloudy; air = bubble）
　　* I dribble a little urine after I have finished urinating.（小便后还会滴滴答答。）（即失禁毛病）

　　解大便
　　一般是用 to make（或 have）a bowel movement 或 to take a shit。如果看病，医生常问：「Do you have regular bowel movement？」（大便正常吗？）（说得斯文些，就是「大肠在转动」）

　　此外，还有其他的说法： to defecate =to discharge excrement（或 feces）=to take feces （或 faeces）。 例如：

　　* The patient needs to take a shit. （=to make a bowel movement）

　　不过，小孩多半是用 to make a poo poo 或 to make a BM. 。 例如：

　　* The boy had a stinky BM.（大便奇臭。）

　　但是「大便检查」倒叫做 stool exam，因为 stool 也是一种化验的样品。 例如：

　　* The doctor has to exam his stool.（医生要检查他的大便。)


　　放屁
　　在美语里最常用的是 to expel gas 或 to fart 或 to make （或 pass）gas。 例如：

　　* 医生有时问：「How often do you expel（或 make 或 pass）gas？」（你放屁的次数很多吗？）
　　* Is the gas expelled by belching？（是否打嗝后就会放屁呢？）（动词是 belch）
　　* He said the more he ate, the more he farted.（吃的愈多，放屁也愈多。）
　　* He has passed more gas than usual within the last two days.（过去两天中，他放?
