Rise and shine, slept early only to be awoken and bothered a bit
afterwards by a mosquito in the room, battled it for a couple
hours, a few bites, up a few times, lights, bathroom, bothered but
nothing I could do, could not see it anywhere, a couple of hours
in, I lay down in silence, still as a Buddha in meditation, lying
down on my bed with my bare arms folded and exposed, so sensitive I
lie there, I feel a faint landing on my right bicep, slap, slap
with lefthand and a pinch, I feel the bit of leftover mosquito
particle between my finger tips, I turn on the lamp next to my
bedside and see the speck of matter and tinge of red, the slight
smear of my blood stained on my flesh, I turn off the light and lay
there for a moment, my senses back to peace of mind, I wash my
hands in bathroom, back to bed, can't sleep, can not sleep, flip on
the phone, check the WeChat like status, disappointed, one like, no
comments, anxiety with being tethered to my phone and the likes of
Out to Student Street today, saw an old lady on her knees
picking through some take-out containers, looking for leftover food
of some sort to feed to her ducks or pigs. This is filthy,
disgusting, and also oblivious to all around.
Is this part of Chinese culture? Is this just a part
of the culture here because we are in the midst of a village?
No matter, the people don’t need to be doing things in this way if
maybe there was a system setup where waste would be sorted –
plastics, paper/recyclables, along with separate non-recyclables,
and then bio-recyclables that can be composted into use for
fertilizer or pig food or whatever.
The system as it is now in place disregards the usefulness
of these waste materials, thus also contributing to the pollution
of our planet through landfills, open-sewages, air pollution from
burning rubbish, which all leads to heal
'I maintain that truth is a pathless land, and you cannot approach
it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect. That is my
point of view, and I adhere to that absolutely and unconditionally.
Truth, being limitless, unconditioned, unapproachable by any path
whatsoever, cannot be organized; nor should any organization be
formed to lead or coerce people along a particular path... This is
no magnificent deed, because I do not want followers, and I mean
this. The moment you follow someone you cease to follow Truth. I am
not concerned whether you pay attention to what I say or not. I
want to do a certain thing in the world and I am going to do it
with unwavering concentration. I am concerning myself with only one
essential thing: to set man free. I desire to free him from all
cages, from all fears, and not to found religions, new sects, nor
The sun light casts a shadow on the palm tree to give it light,
energy & strength for growth, sustenance, it is only when the
light steps aside that the tree is allowed to shine, in it's own
light is it's true extent of light.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF CHINA (OR
THE OUTER-LANDS OF WHERE I HAVE COME FROM)
China really is the magical place
that I have thought of it all to be before when I was still in
America thinking about coming back over here.
It is now the year two thousand
and fourteen, the animal year of the horse here. It is July,
the 22nd, here in Nanjing, the old southern
capital. A lot of history around here. I’m chillin’
here in my bed typing away and also thinking about what to
The hostel here is the shits,
especially after starting off at a pretty sweet one, with the
exception of a bit of fart, it was as perfect of a place as could
be in Hangzhou.&
And when great souls die, after a period peace blooms, slowly and
always irregularly. Spaces fill with a kind of soothing
electric vibration. Our senses, restored, never to be the
same, whisper to us. They existed. They existed.
We can be. Be and be better. For they existed.
Maya Angelou (1928-2014)
It is often difficult sometimes to feel a part of
all when you are isolated; when you connect, breathe the same air,
be around others, in the same atmosphere, again, you are forced to
rub the dust off of your eyes and see the reality of movement, of
nature, of people, birds singing, old man walking by with a baby,
young men and women talking, children growing up, couples, loners
like David walking by with his oars so nobody steals
Real wisdom is recognizing and accepting that every experience
is impermanent. With this insight you will not be overwhelmed by
ups and downs. And when you are able to maintain an inner balance,
you can choose to act in ways that will create happiness for you
and for others. Living each moment happily with an equanimous mind,
you will surely progress toward the ultimate goal of liberation
from all suffering.

Just testing this thing out.
