O’Sullivan Extends Rankings Lead
Ronnie O’Sullivan has opened up a vast lead in the latest world
rankings following his victory in the Northern Ireland Trophy.
O’Sullivan scored an emphatic 9-3 defeat of Dave Harold in the
final in Belfast tonight (Sunday), making it back-to-back ranking
titles having won the 888.com World Snooker Championship in
May.
The Rocket now leads by over 6000 points from Stephen Maguire
and is already in a strong position to retain his official world No
1 ranking.

After ten terrific frames the Rocket was first among the balls
in the decider but on 52 he had to play safe.
Carter looked composed as he steadily built a reply, but on 51 with
the final red on the bottom cushion he rattled it in the jaws to

O’Sullivan Survives Hawkins’ Brave Challenge
Ronnie O'Sullivan came through a nail-biting finish against
Barry Hawkins to reach the Northern Ireland Trophy semi-finals and
set up a repeat of his Crucible showdown against Ali Carter.
The Rocket flew through the early stages of
his match against world No 27 Hawkins at the Belfast Waterfront and
looked set for an easy win at 4-1 after breaks of 122, 60 and
110.
But left-hander Hawkins, who had showed his quality with a 126 in
frame four, hit back to win the next three with top runs of 54 and
51 to bring the score to 4-4.
And the Kent player looked favourite in the deciding frame as he
built a 37-2
O’Sullivan - Only Higgins Can Match Me
Ronnie O'Sullivan eased into the quarter-finals of the Northern
Ireland Trophy tonight - then gave his opinion that John
Higgins is the only player who can stop him if he finds his best
form.
'On my day I like my chances. There are one, possibly two
players who can beat me. John Higgins is definitely one, I'd have
to play well to beat him,' said the Rocket after defeating Joe
Perry 5-3.
'It wasn't the best performance, similar to the world final, a
few mistakes no continuity, no flow,' he said.

magic as three brilliant breaks saw him beat Ken Doherty 5-4 from
