作为theory of mind的代表，Gopnik的儿童心理学或发展心理学研究，表明自我知识的形成遵循等价原则（Self/Other Parity，or theory theory）。那么，就认识论的内在主义和外在主义来说，她究竟认同那一种观点呢？根据她的新书“the philosophical baby”，好像倾向于外在主义一边，婴儿在将信念、意愿等心理态度归属于自我时，几乎和归属于他人是同步的。那么这是否动摇了内省通达知识的优越性呢？如果不只是内省或觉知参与了确证，而外部因素也参与其中，那么外在主义和内在主义的分歧，是不是在Gopnik这里得到中和。4、5岁以后的儿童及成人，又是什么状态呢？
Gopnik在Ted的演讲非常有趣，比如她说到“what’s it like to be a baby? It’s like being in love in Paris for the first time after you‘ve had three double espressos”。哈哈，这句话真是说到我心坎上了。儿子出生这半年来，尤其能够尝试体会到这种感觉。他好奇而又精力百倍地探索周围的世界。可是，如Gopnik所说，那些半夜三点让你从熟睡中醒来的
