November!(2009-11-22 03:04)

My favorite month of the year...

I went for a walk and took the camera with me...

So - a batch of late autumn kitsch...;-)

Xi Men Chui Xue -《陆小凤系列》 ( Lu Xiao Feng series )

Xi Men Chui Xue usually tends to do a fairly 'clean' job, so I guess there should be less blood.
But - for the sake of effect - I went for a slight exaggeration...

Raining, cats & dogs...(2009-07-08 07:08)

Raining...:

So far, I like this summer. The heavens apparently decided to drown us all, so it rains and it rains and it rains.

I am very sorry for all the people from flooded regions in Central Europe. Some have been made homeless - overnight... In Czech Rep. alone over a dozen people have lost their lives. It's been raining so heavily and so long that floods have become a common tune on the Evening News. Every day, people in one corner of the country or another have to look on helplessly as water invites itself into their houses and cellars and sweeps much of their households away.

I feel somewhat guilty for enjoying the rain so much.

...MJ's dead.

When I was 8 or 9, I saw 'Bad' on TV and I became a huge MJ fan - almost instantly.

I basically wall-papered the walls of my room with MJ posters. I had to have every album I could get my hands on, I collected everything MJ-related, from stickers and badges to books.

I defended Mike's reputation heroically against anyone who dared to express doubt and disbelief concerning MJ being a paragon of all virtues. I even thought MJ was good-looking, yes - that's how crazy I was...

I may be a winter person, but I can't spend the whole spring and summer in hiding, right...? Today, I decided that it's high time I started enjoying at least some aspects of this season. I spent half the afternoon outside, trying my best to ignore the disgusting heat and to enjoy myself. And it was time well spent. The heat was pretty awful (and so were the mosquitos - I swear they're

Some 'Qin fanart' - as I call it...

Qin dynasty fascinates me. It's basically just a few decades, but they've got an incredible 'drive'. It is a fantastic story material.

指鹿為馬。

Point at a deer and call it a horse.

Should you sum up Wei Pai's acting career in but a few words, you could say that 'he'd been there', done his little supporting bit, and enjoyed a few flashy moments before his star dimmed and went out. He never made it big – and thanks to his fairly promising but short involvement with Chang Cheh's 'Venom mob', he's probably better known to Western fans of Hong Kong old-school films than to the Chinese audience.

Reasons for that are no great mystery. He was fairly good and looked very well – but the industry was big and there were more than enough young good-looking chaps who were 'fairly good'. Wei Pai didn't have that extra bit of something to spur his career on and ahead of

Vampires are cool. In more than one sense of the word.  And - no matter how bloodthirsty, evil, or ravenous they can be, they did not deserve this sort of thing.

When I was 14 or so, Interview with the Vampire hit the silver screens. If I hadn't developed a certain measure of gothic sensibility by then, IWTV would have done the trick. I

I really don't have anything special to say except that I love the weather. Being a creature who's far more comfortable during the colder, darker seasons of the year, I'm enjoying this February a lot...

I went for a little stroll outside yesterday - and took a few pictures. I'm not a gifted photographer and while I do possess a vague notion of things like lighting and composition, that vague
