I think I'd have the courage to say a simple
hello to my dear friends here, even though I have stopped
blogging long time ago.
But, guys, Jianfeng is still with you and he'll
be back soon, though not to this place any more. He would welcome
you all to the grand unveiling of his new blog site, his very own
web publishing house. You only gotta be a little patient for
that.
Cheer up, at least we still got each
other!
I've finally decided to terminate my Sina
blog.
Believe me, it's not a rash decision.
And you bet Jianfeng won't give up
blogging because it's already become his mission.
With the help of some smart people and the
input of some money, Jianfeng will very soon have his own powerful
blog site. Loosely speaking, it will be Jianfeng's
personal website.
Three months can't be a long time. But I had so
much fun blogging with you guys. I feel sorry to leave you like
this, but I promise I'll run my circle and read your
excellent entries as usual. After all, Jianfeng has no plan to
vanish, and he's just got too obsessed with something
bigger.
I'll let you know when Jianfeng's personal
website is up and running.

The West Lake
Clubhouse
We went to the West Lake Clubhouse
today for its annual thank-you party. Sitting at the
heart of the reputed Qu Garden of Breeze-Ruffled Lotuses
(曲院风荷), the clubhouse belongs to Hangzhou
Tower, the city's most expensive and deluxe department
store.
The clubhouse has
both organizational and individual memebers. The latter are
usually rich local entrepreneurs. Jianfeng and his family were
invited because his office often arranges
In Hangzhou yesterday, just two days after the
high-profiled dynamite demolition in Guangzhou, 500 kilos of
explosives leveled the main building on the Medical
College Campus of Zhejiang University. As the giant building
disappeared in thick plumes of dust and ash, the old
campus was gone for ever, timely scheduled to make
room for another huge wave of commercial
development.
Days before the blowup, the local media had
drummed it up as a high-tech spectacle, stridently implying that it
should be an eye feast that we couldn't afford to miss. At the
end of one news program,
I can't believe this! Saddam wrote the
poem in his pre-execution moments and did try to tell his people to
respect their enemies. He sounded like a most
defiant warrior throughout the poem, but the meaning-well
message is unmistakable in the last line.
My entry on Saddam's death did
precede Sina's publication of the poem. Great minds think
alike? Oh, no, I have never wanted to
be the ally of a devilish tyrant. I am
just terribly amazed that the Saddam on the
threshold of death had actually called out to his people to respect
their enemies.
I don't know what went through Saddam's
mind during the final moments of his life. Maybe, the
message is the last remaining humanity amid all his evil
thoughts and acts.

Saddam Houssein was hanged two days short of
the new year. Our media's hype on the execution hasn't
died down even after the happy holiday. And his death still comes
up in our serious or casual talks on world
affairs.
It's weird that the death of a brutal,
remorseless dictator should win so much sympathy of our
people. I don't think there are many among us who are actually
mourning over Saddam's death. He had indeed committed
unspeakable atrocities against his people and neighbors, and
deserved to die as retribution for the loss of so many
innoce
Think it would be fun to let you see what
Jianfeng wears to work this winter. Business suits are not included
because they don't belong to any season and Jianfeng has to
wear them anyway on formal occasions.
