1 - Look in magazines, journals, newspapers for events - current or historical - and recent facts, and other valuable information and articles about subjects that interests you and that are comfortable for you to talk about.
2 - Jot down any possible idea that comes up for interesting speech topics. I always make a list of issues if I'm contracted for a public speaking engagement.
And then I skip the ones that are too difficult and complex to master in 8 to 10 minutes.
3 - Review books on the subject for more detailed current information about your topic. Go to a library and ask for books and reference articles about your subject.
