A kayaker fought off an 8-foot great white shark with her paddle last month after it knocked her off the craft at one of Australia's most popular beaches.

上个月在澳大利亚最著名的海滩,一名划艇运动员被一只大白鲨撞击从穿上掉下,但她却用她的船桨将鲨鱼击退。

Linda Whitehurst, 52, was paddling her sea kayak near the eastern resort town of Byron Bay, about 375 miles north of Sydney, when the shark lunged at her, knocking her into the water, the paddler and police said.

琳达,五十二岁,当时正在东部著名的旅游圣地拜伦海湾划艇,那里距离悉尼有375英里。警察介绍说,就是在那里她遭受了袭击。

Y: Well, did you know that in several laboratory experiments scrub jays, relatives of the blue jay, hid their extra food more cautiously when other jays were around? In fact, if another scrub jay was visible when the first jay buried its food, the first jay was more likely to dig up the food later and rebury it in another location.

And hello, I am Brooke Baldwin at the CNN Center in Atlanta. Here is a look at what's happening NOW IN THE NEWS.

Despite diplomatic moves, fighting continues now for a fourth day in the former Russia Republic of Georgia. European Union envoys are set to deliver a cease-fire proposal to Moscow signed by Georgian President Mikheil Saakshvili. Georgian officials say it includes a withdrawal of all Russian troops from Georgian territory. That agreement also includes provisions calling for international peacekeepers and mediation to help end  this conflict.

Hundreds of police officers spent the night trying to get rioters under control in Montreal. They burned cars, take a look here, smashing windows even looted stores.
