Upper back pain still bothers me. Despite all the measures I have been taking, posture, taking frequent breaks, exercises, stretches, it does not get better. It’s been 13 years, and gradually getting worse. Sometimes even hard to find a comfortable position in bed. That really annoys me.

Tony finished his finals and we brought him back yesterday (He is still him, not a different person like what I was told to be prepared for.)

And seeing him again at the end of his first semester of University, it reminded me the first day of his university when we drove him there.

One word, it was miserable.

He wasn’t feeling well the whole trip to China this summer. And he still looked sick and weak on his first day of university.

He seemed in a bad mood and miserable. I felt miserable because of it. We didn’t talk the whole ride to there.

You would expect some excitement taking off to university, right? It’s a big achievement getting accepted by your dream university and something worth to celebrate. And first day of university? So excited.

We woke up to a bright, warm, and welcoming sunny morning. How comforting and promising it was!

Side story: Feng woke me up in the middle of night with a low but worrisome voice. I opened my eyes to a tent totally lighted up. I found my heart pounding. Somebody shining a super flashlight on our tent? what’s happening then? Animal found? Aliens here? Pull all my bravery together, I opened the tent and looked out. A super moon, right in front of me, right on top of the lake. This is why people love travel and to a wild or remote place, even it’s sometimes tough or even risky. The reward is worth it. It reminded me the moonlight pine woods we camped in Banff. They were like dreams.

It was cold overnight, colder than the broadcast promised. It’s hard to get up when it’s cold.

It’s a lovely early spring Saturday, high 13 degree, sunny, crystal clear blue sky, and a very light sweet breeze. You cannot ask for a better day for a spring outdoor running/hiking.

My two colleagues, Gosha and Joanne, signed up for this race at my recommendation. Their condition was that we would walk instead of run. So I would walk with the two girls and my husband Feng would run and wait for me at the finish line. He was totally Okay with that. He is super.
