Tarkan不僅在土耳其流行歌壇佔有一席之地，在中東、北非、歐洲、美國、拉丁美洲等地，其盛名也廣泛流傳。Tarkan出道於1991年， Simarik（寵壞了），是收錄於他1997發行的第三張專輯Olurum Sana（為你癡狂）裡，本專輯在土耳其和歐洲造成熱銷，光土耳其就賣了三四百萬張，而在歐洲各國也大受歡迎、狂墊歌壇群雄，單曲Simarik還登上法國、比利時的歌曲排行榜前三名內，兩年後，並以「Tarkan」為名推出歐洲版的精選輯。
當時因為該單曲Simarik，Tarkan還進行數次全球巡迴演唱，腳步遍及歐洲的英、法、德、比、荷、奧、葡、俄等，北非的突尼西亞、摩洛哥，甚至還遠征澳洲。正當Tarkan紅透半邊天時，土耳其媒體揭露出他尚未服兵役之事
