2.Can you think of some measures to protect forest?
I think it is very important  for the goverment to make laws to protect the forest. And we also need to grow various types of trees.And everyone shall be aware of the importance of protect forest and do it.

3.If a chemical plant has to dump a poisonous substance into the river, but its closing-down means that many workers will lose their jobs and the local economy will be affected, the what do you propose to do?

毁林开荒、乱砍滥伐,使我国本来就不多的森林资源破坏非常严重。火灾、虫灾等也加剧了对森林的破坏。面对森林严重不足,对现有森林资源的保护就日益重要。

首先禁止乱砍滥伐,改变'靠山吃山'的落后思想。我国政府已规定,对天然林、原始森林一委严禁采伐。这对一些身居深山老林的百姓(少数民族)来说,应该转变过去'靠山吃山'的观念。山上的森林不是'上帝'只传给你的,还要留给子孙后代的。如果现在把树木砍伐光了,山秃了,几年后会带来'泥石流'等灾难。
        同时,制定并实施多项林业生态工程计划,大力植树造林,保护生态环境。

Beijing's Disease Control Center Asks Restaurants to Ban Smoking

Beijing's Disease Prevention and Control Center is urging the city's 40,000 restaurants to 'take an active move' and voluntarily ban smoking.

China has no government regulations banning smoking in restaurants nor are the restaurants required to have smoking sections, said Feng Ailan, a health expert with the center.

'No-smoking restaurants are still rare in Beijing, which is harmful to the health of diners and restaurant staff,' she said.

China might legislate to control smoking among adolescents
Chinanews, Kunming, Jan. 27 – A member of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference recently called for legislation on a ban on adolescents smoking.
More than 80,000 Chinese adolescents start smoking every year. Smoking is even considered as the first step to their becoming addicted to drugs.

BEIJING will launch a campaign to clear out foul language and smoking in public areas during the 2008 Olympic Games, senior Chinese officials said yesterday.
